New Detectors Placed in West Desert

Deploying Surface Detectors for TALE

The recent expansion to the Telescope Array was featured on the front page of the Millard County Chronicle Progress last week.  Reporters at the newspaper covered the placement of new surface detectors, which were flown in by helicopter to their permanent locations.  They also interviewed John Matthews, research professor and project manager of the Cosmic Ray Research Group.  The interview covered a number of topics, from the nature of cosmic rays to the reasons that Millard County is an excellent location for observing them.

The interview also covers some of the history of Cosmic Ray research and the Telescope Array Project.

The full interview can be found in the March 1 edition of the Millard County Chronicle Progress.  A PDF of the article can be found here.
